Solar Simulator (Link)
Description
This is the first “game” I published on Scratch, though it’s more of a simulation or virtual toy than a video game—there are no objectives, though there are badges and achievements. You can change the themes of the planets and background.
The three badges are:
-Venus: Heat a wet planet(let it come close to your sun)
-Moon: Collide two planets together
-Earth: Make a wet planet habitable(keep it in the green circle around your star for a while)
And the two achievements are:
-Oh, The Humanity: Make a habitable planet uninhabitable(collide it with another planet or move closer/farther from it)
-Timeless: Keep a habitable planet habitable for a while.
Gameplay
This game is controlled with the mouse-pointer, though there are visual effects that can be enabled or disabled with the keyboard(more information in the project).
You control the sun, and planets spawn in the middle of the screen. Planets get hotter as they get closer to the sun and colder as they move away. However, the planets are always moving towards the sun, meaning that for some badges and achievements, you’ll have to move your sun in certain ways.
There are two main types of planets: Wet and Dry. These types of planets have three subtypes depending on temperature.
The Dry subtypes are Dry-Cold(Mars-like), Dry-Warm(Land), and Dry-Hot(Barren)
The Wet subtypes are Wet-Cold(Ice), Wet-Warm(Oceanic), and Wet-Hot(Venus-like), the final granting you a Venus badge.
Plans for the Future
In the future, I plan to add more themes and achievements to Solar Simulator, and in general, add more graphical tweaks, but other than that, there aren’t many ideas I have for the future of this project. Still, if you have any you might want to propose, feel free to comment on the project!
